Samsung was the pioneer of the foldable market and changed the dynamics of the industry by bringing in an innovation that users long awaited. However, the company has been struggling lately to sustain its position as the leader in this certain category. The competition is getting intense especially with other companies aggressively working on bringing novelty on the fold phones. Honor has left the tech community astonished with its Magic V3 and is being considered the king of its category by making a folding thickness record. The company recently threw shade at the South Korean tech giant with a satirical mini engraving.
Honor takes on Samsung first with the thickness and now with a micro engraving on its Magic V3
Honor has been able to mark its position swiftly by vigorously working on evolving the technology and bringing forward the thinnest foldable phone, the Magic V2 which stood at 10mm. It is now breaking its own record by further working on the thickness and reducing it to 9.2mm with the Magic V3. Honor has left the competition behind in its ability to innovate and make users' holding experience more comfortable.
With the thinnest foldable phone coming out globally next week, Honor has come up with a unique way of trolling Samsung, for being unable to beat its foldable's micro design. To take on this, as reported by PhoneArena, Graham Short who is known for his micro engravings, was hired to carry out the dig on the company's behalf. Honor has hired the artist to engrave the tiniest apology on the Honor Magic V3 for Samsung buyers, especially those who own a Galaxy Z Fold phone, for having to settle for less when they know better options are out there.
Since the carving is on one side of the Magic V3, which stands at 4.35mm when opened, it can be challenging to engrave anything on it, especially a 166-word cheeky apology. Following is what was engraved:
Dear Samsung Galaxy Z Fold owners, we’re sorry. We know you were excited to buy a phone that folds in half and fits in your pocket, awkwardly. You were promised the future, a technical marvel, a world of boundless multitasking and performance. And now, you're probably looking at the new HONOR Magic V3 and feeling a little... betrayed. Size matters, and we feel your pain. Like being tipped for a gold medal and then coming last in the race, the knowledge that a thinner, lighter, and more durable foldable exists is enough to make anyone question their choices. We get it. You were an early adopter, a pioneer bravely venturing into the uncharted territory of foldable screens with questionable durability. You deserve better. In fact, you deserve a gold medal. In all seriousness, we at HONOR are committed to pushing the boundaries of technology and bringing you the best possible foldable experience. We're just saying... it's okay to feel let down. We'd feel the same way.
Mr. Graham completed the extremely difficult craft in about 90 hours, which can only be read under a microscope. The task was cumbersome because of the thinness of the device and the heavy metal used, which the artist had to engrave using diamond-tipped pens.
Honor not only brought ahead the thinnest foldable phone that took on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with its unbeatable record, but it also devised a truly ingenious marketing strategy to emphasize its position in the foldable market.
