How to watch Google I/O 2024 Event and what to expect

Apple had us hooked last week on the iPad launch, but today, Google is vigorously set on its I/O developer conference, scheduled for Tuesday, May 14. The event is held in close proximity of Google’s Headquarters in Shoreline Amphitheater, California. The keynote starts at 10:00 AM, PTD or 1 AM, ET in a few hours and even though it is an invitation-based event, it will be live-streamed.

Google’s I/O keynote starts in a few hours - Here's how to watch it live

The two-hour keynote will be live-streamed on Google’s I/O website and the company's YouTube channel. The live stream will also be available in sign language. In addition to the main keynote, a subsequent developer-focused session will start at 1:30 PM PDT. If you are unsure about converting the time zone to your area, you can use an online time and date calculator to be certain when you need to tune in for the live stream.

Even though the event is primarily focused on software and is positioned as a developer event, we can expect announcements related to the recently announced Pixel 8A and additional products. However, the highlight of the event will be new artificial intelligence tools, which have been a hot topic for tech news for a while now.

While Google is not heavily focused on big reveals today, the company unveiled the new Pixel Fold last year at the I/O event, making it unpredictable when it comes to hardware announcements. Henceforth, we can expect the company to introduce new products later today, but take the news with a grain of salt.

One thing we are positive about is that AI will be in the limelight of the event. So far, Google has not revealed much about the augmented reality technology that it has been working on. The company is also expected to announce new Gemini-powered features for Android 15 and Pixel-branded devices. Google will be showing the features of its upcoming Android 15 operating system, Wear OS (smartwatch software), and Android Auto Integration.

The AI-focused keynote announcements might hint at an update on the news of Apple working with Google to incorporate its Gemini AI platform into iOS 18. However, neither party confirmed the news as of yet.  We will be sharing live updates on everything announced today so follow along for the latest updates during the event.
