Rockstar Games shared details on the next major GTA Online update. As revealed on the developer's blog, the game is due to receive brand new Bounty Hunter missions this summer.

This summer, it’s time for some (high-value) target practice to clean up the roving reprobates of Southern San Andreas with your very own bail enforcement and bounty hunting business in the next major update for GTA Online. Meanwhile, back in town, Vincent needs help enforcing his authority without official oversight — get behind the wheel of your souped-up Cruiser and conduct a range of off-the-books enforcement activities across Los Santos. Plus, utilize new tools and props to create custom, high-octane Drift and Drag Races in the Creator, and much more later this month.

The update will also add some new cars and boost payouts for specific activities, such as Taxi Work, Open Wheel Races, and Operation Paper Trail.

The GTA Online Creator mode has been improved, too, thanks to the expansion of custom drift race tracks and drag race courses, as well as new units in all tracks, from drivers doing donuts and bouncing lowriders to crowd animations and more.

In addition, testing races is easier as creators can now launch tests from any selected checkpoint, and Drag Races now have the option to run multiple rounds before a winner is declared, along with a number of new improvements designed to help the community create and share their races, deathmatches, and more.

GTA Online was the proverbial golden goose for Rockstar Games. Its success essentially meant the studio focused on expanding the multiplayer mode instead of making any single player expansions to Grand Theft Auto V. It will be interesting to see the transition between GTA Online on GTA V and the online mode for GTA VI, which is slated to hit PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X in Fall 2025.
