With the Made By Google Event hardly a month away, all eyes are on the Pixel 9 series, which will be unveiled on August 13. Although there is no mystery left to the series as the leaks keep giving away specifications of the upcoming lineup, there has been sparse information on the Pixel Pro Fold, which will come alongside the standard models. A recent report gives away the design of the next-generation Fold variant, and it is opting for a revamped look from its predecessors.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is going to sport a new form factor with a brighter and taller outer display

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is expected to be rolled out with the other standard Pixel 9 series at the Made by Google Event. Previous speculations suggested that the new Fold model might be called the Pixel Fold 2, but Google chose a different name, and that is not the only change we will see with the upcoming Pro Fold.

The original Pixel Fold came with a different aspect ratio than the generally followed specifications for the foldable. It came with a 5.8-inch wide outer display that was relatively short, and the inner display was also too wide at 7.6 inches. While the outer display was well received by users, making the experience with the device seamless, the inner display was taken to make tasks such as typing more arduous due to its wider ratio and making it hard to hold the foldable in one hand.

With the new Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Google has taken a different approach to the display specifications and will come with a new form factor from the original Pixel Fold. According to the specifications leaked by Android Authority, the Pixel Pro Fold will undergo some key changes from its predecessor and will opt for a more squarish look.

The aspect ratios would differ from the original model, with the Pro Fold having an inner display of 8 inches, marking a huge jump. It will come with a brighter display, going up to 16,000 nits of peak brightness, and the resolution will be improved as well, featuring a 2152 x 2076 and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The outer display will be relatively taller, featuring a 6.24-inch panel, which is bigger than the original Fold model. The peak brightness will also be improved, as it would go for an HDR brightness of 1,800 nits and a resolution of 1080 x 2424. These updates make the new Pro Fold very different from the original and make it feel closer to the OnePlus Open instead.

An earlier leak suggested that the new foldable would be thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, standing at 10.54mm when folded, refining the hardware aspects of the upcoming model. Even though not much is given away about the display crease, for now, the big panel changes seem to be a promising aspect of the upcoming Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
