Finally, some relief, but will the price continue to decline in the coming months? Let's wait and see.

German Market Records 7.2% Price Reduction for DDR5 RAM Kits Across Multiple Retailers; The First Price Drop Since July 2025

It has been several months since RAMpocalypse began, though prices had already started rising a few months before the situation worsened. The impact of DRAM shortage can be seen globally, and the current market seems to have stabilized at nearly 4-5x the prices when we consider DDR5 RAM kits. In some regions, the prices can be seen gradually rising, but in some, there appears to be some small price drops.

As per the data collected by 3D Center, the prices of DDR5 RAM have dropped noticeably this month. Surprisingly, March remains the only month since July 2025 to see a drop in DDR5 RAM prices. The chart from 3D Center uses Gheizal's data, which tracks hardware prices across several German retailers. Hence, this data provides a clear picture of the current DRAM situation in the country.

Taking July prices as the base, we saw a slight increase in DDR5 prices in the following two months. As soon as we entered October, the average price went up by 15.8%. This includes 8 GB, 16 GB, 24 GB, 32 GB, and 48 GB DDR5 RAM kits rated at various speeds. November saw a staggeirng 49.5% price increase, but the price growth peaked at 93% in December. In January, the price rose by 27.6%, but remained stagnant in February.

At this point, the average DDR5 prices were nearly 440% compared to July 2025 levels. Thankfully, this month has recorded a 7.2% decline in prices, bringing down the price index to 408%. Some kits didn't see much reduction in the prices, but the 2x 32 GB DDR5-6000 CL28 kit saw the biggest price reduction of nearly 19% month over month. Other 32 GB and 16 GB kits also saw moderate price reductions, but we are still far from last year's prices. Hopefully, the price decline continues in the following weeks.
