Samsung’s engineers made some incredible strides with the Galaxy S25 Edge as the sleek flagship boasts a thickness of just 5.84mm, but as the majority of you know, this design shift comes with a few compromises, as the device shipped with a significantly smaller 3,900mAh battery. Whether the company introduced this model to gauge the market’s response or for any other reason, its direct successor, the Galaxy S26 Edge, is expected to launch next year and should arrive with some much-needed improvements, particularly on the battery side of things. One tipster now mentions that he has received details that the upcoming model will sport a bigger cell than what we previously reported, bringing some conflicts when discussing specifications.
The new rumor claims that the Galaxy S26 Edge will be treated to a 4,400mAh battery, making it an even more impressive feat
On X, notable tipster Ice Universe, who now goes by the name PhoneArt, says that the information he received regarding the Galaxy S26 Edge battery size was 4,400mAh. Only yesterday, we reported that the same smartphone would be treated to a 4,200mAh cell, with the base Galaxy S26, now being called the Galaxy S26 Pro, sporting a 4,300mAh capacity. The tipster states that he will have to check with his sources regarding the specifications he was sent, and even if there is a conflict, there is a strong possibility that Samsung is testing out multiple prototypes of the Galaxy S26 Edge.
Bear in mind that before the Galaxy S25 Edge launched, it was rumored that the device had two prototypes being tested, with one flaunting a thickness of 6.4mm, but it featured three cameras at the back. Eventually, Samsung gave in to the ultra-slim form factor and launched the Galaxy S25 Edge with a dual camera arrangement. With the Galaxy S26 Edge, it is possible that there is a variant packing a larger 4,400mAh battery, and its internal components could be placed in a manner where it sports a thinner chassis than its predecessor while carrying a bigger cell.
PhoneArt has previously mentioned that the Galaxy S26 Edge will not only have a larger battery but will also be thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge as Samsung shifts to newer materials to increase that capacity. Unfortunately, we have yet to reach confirmation if the Korean giant has shifted to silicon-carbon technology, and after looking at the capacities of the other Galaxy S26 models, the answer is probably no.
