Overclocker achieves 12052 MT/s and 12054 MT/s memory speed with G.Skill DDR5 memory without a premium cooling solution.
Trident Z5 DDR5 24 GB Memory Module Hits a Whopping 12054 MT/s on ROG Maximus Z890 Apex with a Simple Fan Installed on Top
The war for the highest memory speed is still going on with overclockers pushing the limits on both Intel and AMD platforms. Pushing the DDR5 memory speed on Intel Z890 is much easier than on the AMD platform, but one still needs a fairly premium setup consisting of high-end motherboards, RAM kits, and cooling solutions.
Overclocking a DDR5 module to over 12000 MT/s isn't easy but has been achieved a couple of times by a few overclockers. However, this is the first time someone was able to do it without any premium cooling solutions such as liquid nitrogen. The overclocked "speed.fastest" recently hit 6027.1 MHz or 12054 MT/s of memory speed with a G.Skill Trident Z5 24 GB memory module.
The setup consisted of an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 APEX motherboard, a powerful setup that is able to break records. But achieving 12054 MT/s of memory speed with just a single fan installed on top of the memory stick is really impressive. G.Skill boasted about this result:
G.SKILL International Enterprise Co., Ltd., the world’s leading brand of performance overclock memory, is excited to announce two historical overclock achievements of reaching DDR5-12052 and DDR5-12054 memory overclock speed records under air cooling with the G.SKILL Trident Z5 series DDR5 memory.
The overclocker has submitted the results on HWBot and the results are validated as you can see on the CPU-Z Validator website. The memory timings were 68-127-127-256, which is expected since hitting higher speeds increases the latency. Previously, the 12000 MT/s mark was broken by the popular overclocker "Splave", who achieved 12666 MT/s previously and an extraordinary 6348.9 MHz or 12698 MT/s with G.Skill Trident Z5 on Z890 Taichi recently, which still stands as the highest speed on the Z890 platform.
While the 12054 MT/s by speed.fastest is still behind several other DDR5 memory overclocking records, it is an impressive feat on its own due to the absence of any advanced cooling solution. Speed.fastest is now at 15th position worldwide in the memory frequency department.
