The spread of AI is something that you cannot deny. More and more companies are working on bringing AI to their devices in one way or another. We recently heard how MediaTek has partnered up with Meta to bring Llama 2 LLM to devices starting later this year, and Qualcomm and Meta are also working together. Now, a new tip suggests that Samsung is working on integrating a video-generating AI app that will create short-form videos on the device.

Samsung is taking on-device AI seriously as company starts investing in the tech

The tip suggests that Samsung has made investments in Irreverent Labs, a U.S.-based company that specializes in AI-generated 3D content, and both companies have started talking about the prospects of developing something that will help users create videos with the help of AI on their devices is an impressive feature, to be honest, but we are not sure just what application will we see on the devices.

Samsung working on creating something like this does not surprise me. What makes me wonder about this partnership is just how the company plans on leveraging this technology in the first place. Generative AI is something that has become a lot more prevalent, and we are only now getting the chance to explore the depths of it. It is also worth noting that we might not see this partnership bring something to fruition next year with the Galaxy S24 series.

With the Galaxy S24 series, we will see on-device AI thanks to Qualcomm and Meta's part, ship but again, I am not really sure how far that is going to extend in terms of functionality. Considering how Samsung is investing this much attention and resources into AI, it is safe to say that whenever the unveiling does happen, it is going to be something big and something that will truly revolutionize how we use smartphones.

The introduction of AI is not something that should be a surprise to the user. This was more or less bound to happen, and with Samsung jumping ship, it won't be long before other big names like Apple also start developing something that offers on-device AI. While not the entire future, a big chunk of it is going to be based on AI, and I cannot wait to see what more applications we get our hands on once it becomes a mainstay in the smartphone industry.
