Users in the Chinese market have a different sense of taste when it comes to UI when compared to those residing overseas. In order to appeal to users who are residing outside of China, Oppo has introduced Project Spectrum for the Oppo Find 7 smartphone, which is a near stock Android experience, with very little Oppo customizations on top. But the base experience is pure stock Android, something which many of us love to use. And believe it or not, we're mega fans of stock Android here, especially Nexus devices, therefore this news of Project Spectrum is music to our ears.

Flash Project Spectrum 1.0 ROM On Oppo Find 7

Today, we'll show you how you can flash Project Spectrum v1.0 beta onto your Find 7 smartphone in a few easy steps. Before you begin, we highly recommend that you read through the guide first so that you know what you're dealing with here.

All set? Let's begin.

Perquisites

• Make sure that your device is fully charged before going ahead.
• Make sure you have the original USB cable of your smartphone with you.
• Make a complete backup of your device as this process will delete everything in one fell swoop.
• Download the Project Spectrum v1.0 beta firmware from here.

Tutorial

1. First of all, copy the firmware file into your device's SD card using a USB cable and your computer.

2. Turn off your Find 7 smartphone.

3. Now hold down the Power + Volume Down keys together until you see the Oppo logo appear on the display. You'll boot into Recovery Mode after a few seconds.

4. Select the language when prompted for it.

5. Now select 'Wipe data and cache,' then 'Yes.'

6. Once that's out of the way, select 'Install from sd.' Tap on the firmware file you copied in step 1, and then tap on 'Yes.'

The flashing process will now start and during this time we recommend that you do not touch your smartphone at all. Once the flashing is done, simply select 'Reboot' and you'll boot straight into Project Spectrum.

The ROM, in case you're wondering, is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and Oppo has promised that a Marshmallow build will arrive some time early next year. Furthermore, Oppo also revealed that they would expand Project Spectrum to other devices as well. But keep one thing in mind - every Oppo device will ship with ColorOS as standard, and reverting to the stock experience is a route which users have to manually take.
