It appears Tesla - and possibly SpaceXAI - have been able to procure memory chips from Micron at a bargain, which is quite a feat in and of itself, especially given the current memory-related pricing dynamics, where even titans such as Apple have been forced to cry out in pain, figuratively speaking.

For the benefit of those who might not be aware, Tesla delivered a somewhat morose earnings report today, missing consensus expectations on its revenue from energy, adjusted EPS, gross margin, auton margin ex-credits, and operating margin.
Even so, it was Tesla's earnings call that brought out a few fireworks, including a notable nugget from Elon Musk, where he thanked Micron for allocating memory at "reasonable prices, considering memory prices right now."
Of course, Tesla's compute capacity is minuscule by hyperscaler standards, with the Cortex 1 and Cortex 2 clusters sporting a total compute capacity of just around 90MW and 115MW, respectively.
The more interesting question is whether Micron is also providing memory at these "reasonable prices" to SpaceXAI, whose compute demands are an entirely different ball game.
As we reported recently, as of May 2026, SpaceXAI's Colossus 1 data center supported over 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs, divided between H100, H200, and around 30,000 units of the GB200 AI accelerators.
Meanwhile, the Colossus 2 data center currently boasts of over 550,000 GPUs, divided between GB200 and GB300 accelerators.
What's more, SpaceXAI is apparently hunting for a suitable site in Texas to further expand its compute-related footprint. While Elon Musk did not indicate if his other ventures are also benefitting from Micron's uncharacteristic largesse, it's not too far-fetched to assume that to be the case, especially given the ever-growing synergy between the components of Musk's vast corporate empire.
