Once again, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D appears to be on the same level as the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but some games show a slight advantage.

AMD Ryzen 9850X3D Delivers Up To 6% Higher FPS vs 9800X3D at 1080p in Counter-Strike 2; Other Games See 3-4% Improvement

The official benchmarks for the new AMD Zen 5 Ryzen 7 9850X3D will go live on January 28, and here we have the second benchmark leak for the processor. The first benchmark leak showcased that Ryzen 9850X3D is not much ahead of the 9800X3D, but these were mostly synthetic benchmarks. One gaming benchmark did show the processor reaching over 900 FPS, and thankfully, the new gaming results include that particular game in the charts.

User @g01d3nm4ng0, aka chi11eddog, posted a screenshot of a chart that compares the Ryzen 7 9850X3D against Ryzen 7 9800X3D in seven different titles. We don't know the exact source, but if these numbers are true, then one should expect little to no improvements in gaming performance. The configuration included the GeForce RTX 5090, and the games were tested at 1080p, where one can see the new X3D chip going slightly ahead of the 9800X3D, but only in a few games.

Games like Battlefield 6, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Doom: The Dark Ages hardly had any improvements. But in games such as GTA V: Enhanced, Final Fantasy 14 Downtrail, and Cyberpunk 2077, the 9850X3D is 3.53-4.95% faster. This is a very small jump and will go unnoticed, and the max the 9850X3D could push to was 6.38% in Counter-Strike 2, the same game where it previously achieved 900+ FPS on average. This time, it's crossing 800 FPS, but we don't know the exact graphical presets.

Despite seeing nearly 50 FPS higher, the difference won't even be noticeable, considering it's almost impossible to differentiate between 775 FPS and 825 FPS. Also, you will need to have the newly announced 1000 Hz monitors to actually be able to benefit from such high frame rates. That said, even though there are still two days left before we see the reviews coming out, we expect the 9850X3D to be slightly faster compared to the 9800X3D in most apps and games, since a 400 MHz higher boost clock is the only advantage it brings over the 9800X3D.
