After a hit launch on PC in June 2025, Funcom announced that Dune: Awakening will arrive on consoles on September 22, 2026 during today's State of Play event. The release date means it'll arrive a few months after it was initially meant to, since the original plan was to arrive on consoles a year after it arrived on PC.

It'll also arrive with a brand new single-player mode, which seems exactly in line with Funcom's pivot to make the game PvE-first in its last major update and make the PvP elements of the game entirely optional.

While the single-player mode will arrive with consoles, it'll of course be coming to all platforms, so PC players won't be missing out when it arrives. It's also yet another example of Funcom bowing to players requests, as a statement from the studio admits that "Single-player is one of the most-requested features since launch."

The final chapter of Dune: Awakening's Book One story will also arrive with this update, giving players the story content they've been asking for. According to Funcom, this launch is a significant moment for the game, and even presents a "new and improved" version of the game.

"To us at Funcom, September 22nd is more than a console launch. It is a milestone for the new and improved Dune: Awakening. New console players and both new and returning PC players alike will land on Arrakis with access to everything added and improved since PC launch, plus everything arriving in September. This will be the best version of Dune: Awakening yet. Not just a great Open World Survival game, but the ultimate gateway into one of science fiction’s most iconic worlds."
