Today, Apple has released the second beta of its forthcoming iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 update to developers for testing purposes. If you are a registered developer, you now have the option to download the new build on your iPhone or iPad for free. The company has also released beta 2 of macOS Tahoe 26 to developers.
Apple releases beta 2 of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26 to developers for testing
As mentioned, the second developer beta of iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 can be downloaded on compatible models through the Settings app on your iPhone and iPad. Take note that the new beta builds will only be available after you have linked your Apple ID to your Developer Account, otherwise, the builds will not show up in the Settings app. Once everything is set up, all you have to do is launch the Settings app and head over to General > Software Update > Beta Update > and then download and install the latest beta available.
iOS 26 is a major update featuring Apple's most significant redesign since iOS 7. It comes with a new Liquid Glass look and feel, signifying the devices the company plans to release in the future, including foldables and its 20th-anniversary iPhone, which will feature an all-screen design. It also brings a handful of additional features and upgrades, so be sure to check it out.
iPadOS 26 is also a major update, bigger than iOS 26, in my opinion, as it transforms the iPad into a full-fledged computer. Apple has always marketed the iPad as a device that can replace your computer, but iPadOS 26 is the update that finally puts the notion to justice. It comes with enhanced multitasking and extended windowing support, similar to the Mac, and the similarities with macOS are now more than ever.
Other than iPadOS 26 and iOS 26, Apple has also released macOS Tahoe 26 to developers for testing purposes. The latest beta can be installed on compatible Mac models through the Software Update mechanism in System Settings. The update features the same Liquid Glass interface as the rest of the builds, as the company has unified its design approach across the entire product line. The update also comes with a handful of additional utilities for a streamlined user experience. We will share more details on the updates, so do stick around for more details.
