The upward pricing trend for the DDR5 memory continues in Germany, and even though it seems stabilized, it's the worst time to buy a memory kit.

Germany Witnesses Slight Price Hike for DDR5 Memory Kits As 32 GB DDR5-6400 Becomes More Expensive

Almost every month, we see some kind of price hike for the DDR5 memory kits. It has been a regular routine for the market to witness a slight increase in prices as the AI boom continues to drive the costs higher. It has been over seven months since the RAMpocalypse started, and the DRAM market continues to suffer from volatility and uncertainty.

Once again, we are seeing no relief in the DRAM market. While we don't have an accurate picture of the DRAM market on a global level, we can at least do some guesswork based on the accurate representation of the DRAM market in one of the EU regions. As reported by 3D Center, Germany has no longer seen any relief in the DRAM market since March. After the DDR5 RAM prices peaked in January and February, the country recorded some decent price reduction in March.

These retail prices correspond to various capacity DDR5 RAM kits across several German retailers, and therefore, it represents a correct picture of the pricing trend. As seen in the previous month, the DDR5 RAM kits continue to become more expensive every month, and even though May didn't witness a significant hike, we are seeing pricing slightly going upwards. In April, the average DDR5 RAM prices grew by 2%, and in May, we saw another 4% hike.

It's clear that it will take much longer than expected to reach to the pre-RAMpocalypse prices, but at least the prices seem to have somewhat stabilized for now. Uncertainty still looms, causing slight price hikes, and we are at a whopping 414% up compared to July 2025 prices. With gamers paying 4X higher than the usual rates of the DDR5 kits, it has become incredibly difficult to build newer gaming PCs or upgrade.

Another 4% hike in May seems to be due to 32 GB DDR5 RAM kits. The highest price increase was recorded for the 32 GB DDR5-6400 kit that grew by 9% month-over-month. 2x 32 GB DDR5-6000 kit also saw a sudden 8% price hike, which contributed to the higher average pricing. Meanwhile some kits also recorded some noticeable drops, including the 32 GB DDR5-5600 kit, which saw a 13% price drop. Overall, there have been some ups and downs for different capacities, and it will most likely take months to see the prices stabilize or witness a drop.
