Right on schedule, a new Crimson Desert patch has gone live today, bringing the usual slew of new features and improvements, more community wishlists, and something no one ever expected to see in the game developed by Pearl Abyss: a pinball minigame.

One of the patch 1.10's biggest additions is the improved Re-blocked. Originally introduced in a previous post-launch update, this feature allows liberated strongholds to be occupied again by enemy factions. The new patch makes this feature more worthwhile by introducing rewards such as contribution, provisions, trade goods, and other items. In addition, it is now possible to request Protection for major strongholds to prevent them from being occupied again.

The most surprising addition of the new Crimson Desert patch is a new pinball minigame located in the inn near the Delesyan Institute. This mini-game doesn't act as a simple diversion, as tokens obtained with it can be exchanged at the Marni Token Exchange for materials, Abyss Artifacts, a Helm, new types of furniture, and more.

A second minigame, Orb Ball, was added at the Great Gate of Urdavah. Like for Pinball, it is possible to obtain rewards for playing it, including an Abyss Artifact and additional furniture that can be used to customize your house.

Rounding up the new additions of the Crimson Desert patch 1.10 are Wyverns and the new pet Kuku Bird Chick as special mounts.

Besides adding new content, the new Crimson Desert patch also introduces some very welcome changes. Among them are the basic interactions that no longer operate as long presses in the default customization preset, the Axiom Force controls can now be changed, and the new Mission Dispatch category tabs to sort available missions by type rather than by region. Head over to the game's official website for the full patch notes.

With these regular patches adding meaningful changes and new content, Crimson Desert is truly on the way to becoming unlike any other modern game powered by other engines like Unreal Engine 5. With some story improvements on the way that will address what I believe to be the game's biggest shortcoming, Pearl Abyss is definitely setting a new bar for post-launch support of a single-player game.
