Control Mod

Ten days ago, we covered the first release of the Control mod from Remedy programmer Filippo Tarpini which adds native High Dynamic Range (HDR) display support, Ultrawide support, and other goodies.

Since then, Tarpini has been very busy. Version 1.1, released a week ago, introduced NVIDIA DLAA support and exposed an Ultra High Quality ray tracing setting that tripled the samples for both ray tracing and volumetrics, thus reducing noise (but lowering performance, obviously).

Today, he released another version (1.2) of the Control mod based on the newly released DLSS Super Resolution 3.1.1 SDK. Tarpini was able to use the new presets feature to greatly improve the quality of DLSS in the game and also reduce ghosting in HDR mode. He also added the auto-update feature for new .dll files that is available with the new SDK.

You can read the full changelog below:

Again, as mentioned in the changelog, this is not DLSS 3 (Frame Generation), just the latest version of DLSS Super Resolution (previously known as DLSS 2). There are currently no plans to add DLSS Frame Generation to the Control mod.

In other Control news, work on the sequel and the spin-off multiplayer game continues. You can read more in Remedy's latest official report.
