Colorful is reportedly planning to launch a new AMD X870 motherboard based under its CVN-series, featuring a unique GPU removal mechanism, along with several features.

Colorful's Upcoming X870 Motherboard Will Feature A GPU Removal Mechanism With a Dedicated ON/OFF Button

Interestingly, Colorful is one of AMD's partners to not have launched any X870/X870E motherboards for AM5 socket, but it seems like the company's first entrant is ready to make an impact, as according to the company's post on Bilibili (via ITHome), Colorful will launch an X870 motherboard very soon, coming under the CVN series and will probably include their first-generation GPU quick-release mechanism, with what appears to be a dedicated power ON/OFF button, so that's interesting.

Well, GPU release methods have started to innovate recently, given that recently, ASUS unveiled its "Q-release" mechanism. The main goal here was to make the PCIe slot so that it allows switching GPUs more easily without damaging the PCIe latch. While the implementation certainly seemed promising, consumers did start to report troubles with it, prompting ASUS to provide RMA services to all the 800-series motherboards affected. Well, with Colorful, we hope the implementation turns out trouble-free.

While Colorful hasn't detailed to us how their GPU release mechanism would work, promotional images show the presence of an ON/OFF button, which likely indicates that if a consumer would remove the GPU, they would need first to cut the power being provided to the PCIe slot. The rest of the slot looks the same, so it would be interesting to see on how Colorful pulls this off, but it is certainly great to see innovation in this segment.

In addition, Colorful says that their upcoming CVN X870 motherboard will feature "frost armor" heatsinks around the VRMs to ensure optimal performance under stress. Colorful hasn't announced a release date for this motherboard yet.
