This week, Colgate has announced the arrival of its new app-enabled toothbrush called the Colgate Smart Electronic Toothbrush E1 that features AI functionalities. The app will be exclusively available on Apple.com as well as some retail outlets. There are certain traits of the smart brush from Colgate which will allow users to improve their brushing routine. So let's dive in to see some more details on the matter.

Colgate To Launch Its Smart Electronic Toothbrush In The United States Today

The Smart Electronic Toothbrush from Colgate makes use of Apple's ResearchKit platform in an attempt to crowdsource toothbrushing data and "get even smarter about oral care for better and faster future innovation". If you're unfamiliar with Apple's ResearchKit, it is a software framework that allows medical researchers to gather data from relevant programs and apps. It also works in collaboration with CareKit to provide users with a comparatively better understanding of any specific medical condition.

"Our goal is simple. We want people to have their healthiest smiles by brushing their best," said Dr. Patricia Verduin, Chief Technology Officer, Colgate-Palmolive Company. "The first step to improving brushing is to understand consumers' brushing habits, and Apple ResearchKit has proved to be a powerful tool for this."

Apart from this, Colgate's electronic toothbrush performs the same way as Philips' devices. It provides real-time feedback to users through an iPhone app in an attempt to enhance your brushing habits. Moreover, the toothbrush houses various sensors like the 3D motion sensor and AI algorithms to detect the effectiveness of your brushing in 16 different zones of your mouth.

The AI functionality of Colgate's Smart Electronic Toothbrush was made possible in collaboration with Kolibree. The connected app teaches users through sessions of brushing and points out different sections of your mouth where they need to emphasize during their daily routine. This also means that by the passage of time, the more toothbrush you use, the more it will it adapt to the users' habits. Furthermore, it will provide feedback and more brushing tips as well.

As we have mentioned earlier, Colgate is launching its Smart Electronic Toothbrush in the United States starting today on Apple.com and in select Apple stores.  The company is charging $99.95 for the Smart Electronic Toothbrush, so be sure to check it out.
