Claude User Claims Using The AI Chatbot Made His “Internet 100x Faster,” But Just A Simple 5-Minute Diagnostics Could Have Resolved The Issue Too

Claude AI chatbot made a user's internet 100x faster

A few occasions can arise where your internet begins acting up, and everything might appear fine and dandy on the outside, but lots of variables are at play that determine the kind of bandwidth you’ll experience. A Claude user says that his company hadn’t introduced any kind of speed throttling, so he let the AI chatbot come up with a remedy.

Turns out it was hardly a 5-minute job that could have been diagnosed by the person, leaving us to conclude that while these smart tools have certainly taken a weight off our shoulders, they’ve also initiated a timeline where users become increasingly dependent on them, rendering them too lazy to remedy the problem themselves.

All it took for Claude was recognizing that the Ethernet cable needed to be replaced, but this simple troubleshooting could have also been done by the user

For the past couple of days, Redditor “vuonghtt” complained that he wasn’t experiencing the speeds that he was paying to his service provider. After performing the necessary checklist, which included confirming whether the bandwidth had been stifled to protect his operating system with an antivirus, the Redditor concluded that something was amiss.

Firing up Claude, he wanted to get to the bottom of his suspicions. Before the remedy was performed, running a Speedtest test obtained a download and upload result of a measly 4.54Mbps and 8.26Mbps. Claude recommended swapping out the Ethernet cable, and sure enough, that’s when the speeds experienced a metamorphosis.

Running Speedtest again, vuonghtt found that his speeds climbed an astronomical 799.02Mbps on the download side and 519.53 on the upload side, making it a 100x improvement. As you would expect, the Reddit thread is filled with condescending remarks on how the use of AI chatbots is leading to a cognitive loss of human thinking, negating the need to commit to problem-solving.

Then again, there will always be a certain group of people who aren’t as “tech savvy” as the rest of us, so tools like Claude are a godsend for tackling such issues, even if these AI chatbots aren’t 100 percent correct all the time. In the end, what matters is if the desired result was achieved.
