Chinese GPU manufacturers have been making massive strides with their solutions, and now, they have made a breakthrough in the consumer GPU segment, competing with NVIDIA's mainstream GPUs.

Lisuan G100 GPU Manages to Compete With NVIDIA's Top-Rated Mainstream Alternatives in Early Benchmarks

Firms like Moore Threads, BirenTech and many others in China have been trying to introduce capable consumer GPUs in the domestic markets, to reduce the influence of firms like AMD and NVIDIA.

While they have yet to come up with a competitive solution, Lisuan Technology has reportedly pushed out a consumer GPU, that according to new tests, managed to outperform NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4060 in OpenCL benchmarks, and coming slightly behind to the latest "Blackwell-based" GeForce RTX 5060, marking a significant advancement in the realm of gaming GPUs.

Paired with AMD's Ryzen 5 7600 processor, the Lisuan G100 consumer GPU scored 111,290 points at OpenCL, higher than NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4060. And, considering that the G100 is yet to hit retail markets, the team appears to be making consistent progress with the GPU's performance, especially considering that the last time we saw the G100 chip, it failed to outperform the decade-old NVIDIA GTX 660 Ti.

One of the main issues with consumer GPUs coming from China is unoptimized drivers, but based on OpenCL testing, it appears that Lisuan Technology has managed to come up with a capable software system.

In terms of specifications, the test reveals that the Lisuan G100 is equipped with 12GB VRAM, likely GDDR6, 48 CUs, and a maximum frequency of 2000 MHz. It was previously revealed that the G100 is made on a 6nm silicon, likely coming from SMIC, so it's safe to say that the GPU relies on domestic technologies.

This is the first time we have seen such a capable solution coming from China's industry in the consumer GPU segment, and considering that the G100 actually manages to hit retail, it might make a massive impact in mainstream markets.
