Apple will have a lot to showcase at its WWDC event in June as it is planning to bring various improvements to its software line. While iOS 18 will be the highlight of the event with its generative AI capabilities, the company will make sure that macOS users do not feel left out of getting new upgrades. We recently covered that iOS 18 will bring notable improvements in the Notes app and the Calculator app, possibly for complex mathematical notations. We are now hearing that the Calculator app in macOS 15 will also be redesigned with the possibility of getting the same upgrades as its iOS counterpart.

The Calculator app is getting a major overhaul in macOS 15 with three modes, a history tape, and more

As mentioned, the Notes app in iOS 18 will allow users to record memos and have deeper integration with the Calculator app for math support. While it is too early to conclude how the company will implement the said changes, it appears that these changes will be available across all platforms, including iPadOS. The redesigned Calculator app in macOS 15 will include a plethora of upgrades over the current version of the app, and we are also expecting visual changes that will bolster the new capabilities.

According to AppleInsider, sources familiar with the matter have stated that the Calculator app in macOS 15 will feature an upgraded unit conversion system along with currency conversion based on the trending information. As we have mentioned before, the Calculator app will also integrate with the Notes app and provide additional mathematical notations, which is a pretty nifty combination for students. The feature will work the same way as iOS 18, so the Notes can be viewed and edited on all Apple devices.

Apart from this, the Calculator app on macOS 15 will also include a new history menu in the sidebar to view and open past calculations, a menu pane similar to the Notes app on macOS. The menu pane will also include the option to switch between different Calculator modes, such as Basic, Scientific, and Programmer. Users will have the option to adjust the size of the Calculator app, regardless of the mode that they have selected.

While the above-mentioned changes are welcome, we hope Apple brings the Calculator app in iPadOS 18 update, as the iPad is a go-to productivity device and a Calculator app makes a lot of sense on a bigger screen. Apple will announce iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15 at its WWDC event on June 10, and while generative AI will be the highlight of the event, we expect the company to announce a handful of additional updates as well.
