Borderlands 2 has been confirmed to be in development

Borderlands was a sleeper hit made by Gearbox Studios, the same company has made many games more recently Duke Nukem Forever, but now Gearbox is preparing for Borderlands 2. The first game was a great hit on the PC / PS3 and the 360 but sadly went unnoticed but that should all be fixed in Borderlands 2 because you can definitely count on it being bigger and better than the last part, the game has been scheduled for a 2012 release date and is being worked on by the same studio and 2K Games will publish the game.

Borderlands was a game that slipped under the radar of many gamers and those who enjoyed the game spread the influence of it by word of mouth making the game more and more known until eventually it became more well known to the public thanks to the game going on sale on steam several times and when people went to friends / gaming forums seeking advice for the game the only feedback they got back was positive. While Borderlands may not be your average FPS on the level of Call of Duty or Battlefield series it brings something new to the mix. Mainly RPG elements, players can choose to take on quests, level up, choose from a variety of weapons and classes and many more in options in the game made this one of the best RPGFPS games available in the market. Now after being hush about a sequel Gearbox has finally come out of the closet and has announced Borderlands 2 is indeed in development and is slated for a 2012 release.

The owner of Gearbox Randy Pitchford stated

"I can tell you that myself and everyone at Gearbox LOVES Borderlands and we have been absolutely thrilled at the reception it's gotten from our customers and the fact that it's sold over four million units now," he said.

"So you can see that we supported the game like mad with lots of great DLC and you can imagine that we're going to want to do a lot of things with Borderlands in the future.

"But we've only announced what we've announced. If we haven't announced it, it doesn't exist.

"Plans and efforts towards the future always exist with a forward looking studio like Gearbox, of course," he continued, "but brainstorming and blue sky research and development should never be allowed to be construed into a customer promise."

"A customer promise should not be made until that promise becomes sufficiently clear and ready and the commitment is there to deliver upon the promise."

The following statement was told to Eurogamer so now the only question I have is when can we expect this game in 2012? Q1 / Q2 / Q3 or Q4? I for one am keeping my eyes open for future updates.
