BlackBerry Officially Announces DTEK50 – Claiming It To Be World’s Most Secure Phone

The BlackBerry DTEK50 has officially been announced, and might we add that it’s actually quite affordable as opposed to when the company announced its first ever Android powered smartphone, the PRIV.

BlackBerry DTEK50 Claims To Be The World’s Most Secure Android Smartphone – Powered By A Snapdragon 617 And Surprisingly, An Affordable Price Tag

BlackBerry states that it will be committed to applying zero-day patches to its smartphones, suggesting that DTEK50 is also going to be among them. We will get to the pricing details shortly, but let’s get over with the hardware spec sheet first. First off, the device is actually built by Alcatel, and uses the same language as the company’s Alcatel Idol 4. From an aesthetics standpoint, it doesn’t look bad at all, and if you take a look closely, you will see that DTEK50 took a feature from Sony’s Xperia lineup; mounting a small circular power button on the sides.

The Snapdragon 617 SoC sports 8 Cortex-A53 processing cores running at a speed of 1.5GHz, so it’s going to provide you with adequate processing power. There’s also 3GB of RAM, a 1080p display and a 2,610mAh battery incorporated inside. The battery life is a bit on the lower side of the bracket, but the capacity is decent enough to last for at least a whole day. The question is how optimized is the software that will allow the average user to rake at least one whole day of battery life. Looks like we will find out shortly.

Coming to the price tag, BlackBerry DTEK50 surprisingly costs just $299.99. $299.99 is still a high price mind you, but coming from this phone manufacturer, we’d say that it’s an absolute steal. The company has started to take pre-orders on its website, and it will start to ship out on August 8, 2016. The 5.2-inch display will be sufficient and you can see the part not covered by display is a hefty amount, suggesting that you will easily be able to grip the phone without running into problems.

We have also included a promo video above, so be sure to watch that, and after you’re done watching it, be sure to take a gander at the hardware specifications to see what you’re getting for $299.99.
