Biostar has unveiled some crazy "decade-old" GPUs with up to 6 HDMI ports and its flagship Z890 Valkryie-S motherboard
Looking For The Perfect Multi-Monitor Value GPU Option? Biostar Has Them For You With Its GT 710 & RX 500 Designs
Multi-monitor support is crucial these days for AI, Pro & Workstation users, but at the same time, multi-monitor setups require more than one GPU since a single card might not meet the requirements of the vast majority of users.
This is why Biostar has come up with an interesting idea: why not take decade-old GPUs and slap up to six HDMI ports on them?
The company unveiled three new options for multi-monitor users, the first of which is based on the NVIDIA GeForce GT 730. The card comes in a single-slot design and features a full-passive operation. It is equipped with four HDMI ports and carries 4 GB of GDDR3 memory across a 64-bit bus. It also doesn't require any power from a connector.
The next two options from Biostar are based on AMD's Radeon RX 500 "Polaris" series. First, we have the Radeon RX 550-4HDMI, which, as the name suggests, features four HDMI ports, a 4 GB GDDR5 memory, & a 128-bit bus interface. The card also comes in a single-slot design but features a single-fan. Once again, you don't need any power connector to boot this multi-monitor solution.
And lastly, there's the Radeon RX 580-6HDMI. This card features the top Polaris chip with 8 GB of DDR5 memory, a 256-bit bus, and six HDMI ports. The card comes in a compact Mini-ITX design, has a single-fan cooler on a dual-slot design, and is powered by a single 6-pin interface.
Biostar Z890 Valkyrie-S Motherboard Showcased - A Special Edition For Intel's 200S Plus
For motherboards, Biostar unveiled its latest Z890 Valkyrie-S motherboard, which comes in an ATX form factor and is an updated version of the Z890 Valkyrie, which launched earlier. This variant features an all-gold color scheme and a massive VRM that is powered by dual 8-pin connectors. Four DDR5 slots support up to 256 GB capacities and blazing fast speeds. Biostar has featured Power & Reset buttons on the motherboard, too.
Expansion slots include three PCIe x16 slots with at least one Gen5 x16 design. There are also 6 M.2 slots on the motherboard, all of which are cooled by heatsinks, and the Gen5 PCIe slot carries an EZ Release solution, which is DIY friendly. There are four SATA III ports on the motherboard, and we also get to see a DEBUG LED at the bottom. IO is also solid with USB4, Wi-Fi 7, BT 5.4, several USB Type-A ports, dual HDMI & a single DP port, 5+2.5GbE LAN ports, and a dedicated USB port for updating the BIOS.
The entire motherboard carries large aluminum heatsinks, and the Valkyrie faceplate on the IO cover lits up with LEDs. The pricing of the motherboard isn't confirmed yet, but expect to see a premium tag.
