As expected, Apple has been on a veritable frenzy when it comes to launching new products. On Monday, the Cupertino giant unveiled the iPhone 17e and the M4 iPad Air. Today, we've got the densest volley so far, with the M5 Pro and M5 Max chipsets, the all-new MacBook Pro devices, and the new M5 MacBook Air getting their respective spots on the stage. Even so, Apple has just announced the all-new Studio Display and Studio Display XDR, replete with a 27-inch 5K Retina XDR display that features an advanced mini-LED backlight, up to 2000 nits of peak HDR brightness, a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and Thunderbolt 5 connectivity.

  3. P3 wide color for rich, true-to-life imagery.
  4. A 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View.
  5. A studio-quality three-microphone array.
  6. A 6-speaker sound system with 4 force-cancelling woofers that deliver 30 percent deeper bass than the previous generation, plus 2 high-performance tweeters for immersive audio.
  7.  Thunderbolt 5 connectivity with two ports that allow users to daisy-chain up to four Studio Display models for a viewing experience of a combined nearly 60 million pixels.

Apple's all-new Studio Display XDR, which has replaced its Pro Display XDR, offers the following features:

  1. A stunning 27-inch 5K Retina XDR display with 5120-by-2880 resolution that offers exceptional detail and clarity. 
  2. The mini-LED backlight utilizes 2,304 local dimming zones that enable extreme contrast.
  3. Delivers up to an outstanding 1000 nits of SDR brightness, 2000 nits of peak HDR brightness, and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
  4. Apple's Studio Display XDR adds Adobe RGB color gamut support, in addition to P3 wide color, resulting in more than 80 percent Rec. 2020 coverage for HDR video editing and color grading.
  5. A 120Hz refresh rate with support for Adaptive Sync that allows the refresh rate to vary between 47Hz to 120Hz, making gaming more fluid with faster frame delivery and lower display latency.
  6. Support for DICOM medical imaging presets and the Medical Imaging Calibrator, which unlocks use in diagnostic radiology.
  7. A 12MP Center Stage camera that keeps users centered in the frame as they move.
  8. Desk View gives a simultaneous view of the user and a top-down view of the desk, which is quite handy for demonstrating a creative project.
