The new mini PC is an affordable device for those who want decent performance for day-to-day operations.

The Intel Wildcat Lake has made producing affordable systems possible. After Wildcat Lake's debut, vendors have been introducing their budget offerings, equipped with 1+4 or 2+4 core chips that utilize the Cougar Cove performance and Darkmont LP-E cores from the Panther Lake series. Despite being weaker on paper, these are excellent chips for day-to-day computing while maintaining great power efficiency.

Beelink, which is a popular mini PC maker, has now debuted one of its first Wildcat Lake-based systems. Beelink calls it EQi 304, which is the newest Wildcat Lake system that utilizes the Core 3 304 processor. This is a 1+4 core CPU that brings One Xe3-core based integrated graphics and operates at just 15W. Thanks to the available NPU, the Wildcat Lake processor is able to carry out local AI operations, offering up to 24 TOPS of AI power.

The Beelink EQi mini PC uses a small form-factor chassis that measures just 126x126x44.2mm and weighs only 500g, making it an ultra-portable device. The device crams all the hardware inside a small chassis that combines it with an advanced thermal design for low-noise operation. The system uses SO-DIMM DDR5 memory and dual SSD ports along with a UFS 3.1 storage, and will be available in three different configurations.

For connectivity, it brings a built-in WiFi 6 adapter for wireless internet and Bluetooth 5.2 for wireless devices. However, those who crave high internet speeds can use the dual LAN ports that are capped at 2.5G and 10G, respectively. For display, it boasts a single HDMI port that supports 4K@60 Hz mode and also brings a Thunderbolt 4 port that supports Alt DP and up to 40 Gbps of transfer bandwidth. On the front I/O, there is a single USB Type-C 10 Gbps port and a USB 3.2 10 Gbps port for peripherals, as well as a 3.5mm audio jack for audio devices.

As far as the pricing goes, here are the prices for different configurations:

  1. 16 GB LPDDR5 + 512 GB = $509
  2. 24 GB LPDDR5 + 512 GB = $659
  3. 32 GB LPDDR5 + 512 GB = $739
