The BAFTA Video Games longlist has officially been revealed, and it's been confirmed that 247 games have been considered by the BAFTA members this year. All of the games on the nominations list were released between 25 November 2023 and 15 November 2024. Each game is now in the running for at least one BAFTA nomination across the 17 competitive categories available. There are some games that have received multiple shortlisted, such as Balatro and Black Myth: Wukong. This article will break down each category and the games shortlisted in each category so you know which games have the potential to win which award. The BAFTA members will begin voting for the nominations in Best Game and British Game categories in January 2025, while specialist BAFTA juries will begin voting for the others. All of the nominations will be announced on Tuesday, 4 March 2025. Once this has happened, BAFTA Games members and juries will begin voting for the winners, which will be announced at the 2025 BAFTA Games Awards on Tuesday, 8 April.

It's no surprise that games like Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, and Astro Bot are shortlisted in multiple categories, as they have been widely successful since their release, with games like Balatro continuing to receive free updates, the same way Astro Bot did after its release. There is a huge amount of talent on this list, and the jury has a tough task ahead of them, trying to decide who deserves the nomination and who is the winner in each category.
