ASUS may not have a BTF motherboard in its Z890 lineup at launch but the company is teasing that it might be working on future products with the backside connector implementation.
Z890 Motherboards With Backside Connectors May Not Be Hitting Retail At Launch But ASUS & Others Do Have BTF Products In The Plan
ASUS introduced its BTF design for its products last year, bringing the TUF Gaming B760M-BTF as the first product to feature a connector-less design, where all the connectors were at the back. It brought several more products later, including motherboards & graphics cards but unfortunately, this isn't going to be the case with the latest Z890 motherboards.
In a recent livestream by ASUS North America YT, when asked if there is a Z890 BTF motherboard for the near future, ASUS's manager, Juan Jose Guerrero, said that they currently don't have any such designs planned in their launch lineup. However, Juan also stated that ASUS is committed to the design, development, and production of BTF products.
BTF at computex was just for demo to show our commitment to BTF design alongside other BTF products we highlighted including next gen AIO design and chassis. We also showed a CAMM II board but do not have a model we are launching. While we do not have a launch BTF Z890…

It means the company isn't yet ready to deploy the BTF design at full scale at the moment, which may be due to several reasons, one of which could be due to focusing production towards the mainstream products since BTF designs are a bit complicated to develop.
Back at Computex 2024, ASUS not only showcased a concept Z890 BTF motherboard using its ROG Maximus Z890 HERO design but also has a CAMM II motherboard based on the ROG Maximus Z790 HERO. So ASUS is actively working on such designs but as with any company, ASUS is going to take their good time to fine-tune these designs for next-gen products.
The company also introduced BTF design for some GPUs like ROG Strix RTX 4090 BTF but since motherboards bring a lot of connectors compared to the GPUs, some fans have been waiting for the BTF Z890 motherboards from ASUS for Intel Core Ultra Series 200 processors. The BTF design can help users with a neater PC build where all the connections will be hidden from the site and there are already many PC cases, which do support motherboards with this design.
With that said, other brands such as MSI and Gigabyte also offer backside connector designs so it's only a matter of time before see first of these products show up officially.
