Well, it certainly is BFGD (Big Format Gaming Display) in a certain way. The teaser that ASUS posted a few days ago turned out to be not an actual BFGD monitor but the company's latest AR Gaming glasses that have been designed in collaboration with XREAL.

The ASUS ROG XREAL R1 AR are the world's first gaming glasses that use a 240Hz micro-OLED panel with an FHD (1920x1080) resolution, and offer a virtual monitor space of 171-inches at 4-meters, and with a 57-degree expanded view. ASUS says that the AR glasses cover 95% of the focused viewing area and feature lots of other features.

One of these features is the integration of a high-end sound system by Bose technology, offering a 3D soundstage. The glasses also come with electrochromic lens technology, which makes the lenses adapt automatically to changing light conditions and adjust lens transparency. So when the user is looking away from the virtual screen, the lenses become less transparent, and when the user is looking at the screen, they become tinted again. Users can also manually select the appropriate transparency levels.

The ROG XREAL R1 AR glasses come with a ROG Control Dock, which features lots of connectivity, such as DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0, to allow gamers to switch between PCs and consoles with a single click. The AR glasses are also compatible with the ASUS ROG Ally handhelds and connect using a USB Type-C cable for an immersive handheld experience.

ASUS hasn't confirmed the pricing yet, but it has stated that the ROG XREAL R1 AR glasses will launch in the first half of 2026.
