ASUS unveiled its new range of ROG gaming laptops at CES 2025, offering cutting-edge components that will break the performance barriers in the segment.
ASUS's Latest ROG Gaming Laptops Now Feature NVIDIA's Next-Gen RTX 50 Laptop GPUs, Along With Intel & AMD's Newest Mobile Platforms
It's always a sight to watch ASUS's laptop showcases following major hardware releases, given that not only does the company top up the game in terms of the performance it brings with the new devices, but the aesthetics keep getting sleeker each time than ever. This time, at CES 2025, ASUS announced new ROG Strix, ROG Flow, and ROG Zephyrus laptop models, each featuring new technologies from NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD to offer the best performance to its consumers.
Starting from the flagship lineup, ASUS's ROG Strix has seen the inclusion of new models under their traditional naming schemes. The new entrants include ROG Strix SCAR 16, Strix SCAR 18, Strix G16, and Strix G18, which are said to bring unparalleled performance, exceeding expectations. Diving into specifications, ASUS offers both Intel and AMD options for its laptops, coming with Team Blue's Arrow Lake-HX processors, such as the Core Ultra 7 255HX, while Team Red configurations include the latest AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D and Ryzen 9 9955HX.
For GPUs, you are looking at NVIDIA's next-gen RTX 50 "Blackwell" models integrated into these laptops, which are certainly ready to provide "out-of-this-world gaming experiences." Other specifications include support for DDR-5600 memory and PCIe Gen 4 storage, which ensures that you get the highest-end performance without compromise in any department.
ASUS has also leveled up in terms of cooling features since both Intel and AMD-based systems come with their dedicated cooling technologies, with the latter ones coming with seven heat pipes with full-surround vents to cover up for the massive thermals the laptops are going to generate. In terms of display, the 2025 ROG Strix models feature a ROG Nebula HDR mini-LED display, capable of 1200 nits peak brightness, 240 Hz refresh rate, and much more. Such specifications are surely the best you can expect with such a device.
Next up, we have a new entry in the relatively "flexible" ROG Flow series, the Z13 model in particular, now coming in with enhanced performance. This particular "2-in-1" gaming machine comes with AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU, a 16-core CPU coming in with the Radeon RX 8060S iGPU, which offers 40 compute units worth of RDNA 3.5 graphics, making this compact device capable of modern-day gaming scenarios. Not only this but with up to 50 TOPS of NPU performance, edge AI applications have become a charm with the ROG Flow Z13.
The ROG Z13 is loaded up with memory, offering up to 128GB of ultra-high-speed LPDDR5X 8000MHz RAM, which comes in a quad-channel memory configuration to ensure dynamic allocation to CPUs and GPUs, hence bringing up to a 96 GB VRAM offering, which is quite impressive.
To cool such a compact device, ASUS has integrated 2nd Gen Arc Flow fans, which feature much more enhanced performance compared to previous solutions. With a 13-inch high-resolution 2.5K and 180Hz refresh rate Nebula Display, the ROZ Z13 ticks all the boxes for a "2-in-1" device.
Finally, we have the new and mainstream ROG Zephryus models, notably the Zephyrus G14 and G16, which are yet again entering the markets, now with more bumped-up specifications. Starting with the CPU, this time, the Zephyrus G14 is coming with AMD's Ryzen™ AI 9 HX 370 processor along with NVIDIA's RTX 5080 laptop GPU, while the G16 counterpart will feature Intel Core Ultra 9 285H and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU. Both models are said to come with up to 64 GB memory and multiple terabytes of capacity, varying on the configurations.
The models are equipped with an ROG Nebula Display with an OLED panel, with the G16 opting for a 3K, 120Hz display, while the G18 comes with a 2.5K, 240Hz display, optimal for hardcore gamers. ASUS has also integrated revamped cooling technologies, such as ROG Intelligent cooling and a Tri-Fan design, to ensure effective heat dissipation in stress scenarios.
ASUS will reveal details about the release date and availability of the new ROG models in the upcoming weeks, but it's safe to say that the latest laptops are more enhanced than ever, offering significantly bumped-up capabilities thanks to the new hardware from NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD.
