The new QD-OLED ROG Swift gaming monitor is an iteration of the PG32UCDM but adds the latest DisplayPort for uncompressed visuals.

ASUS Debuts its Flagship 4K QD-OLED Gaming Monitor, Featuring AI Assistant Technology and DP 2.1a

Last year, ASUS launched its ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM, which was its first 4K@240Hz gaming monitor, but just rolled out another version of the same monitor. The new "PG32UCDMR" is based on the original one but has a few more added features. There isn't any noticeable change in the appearance of the monitor, and its specs are roughly identical to the previous version, except for two things.

The major difference is the connectivity, which the new PG32UCDMR monitor excels at through equipping the latest DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20 port. The older model had the DP 1.4, which offers up to 32.4 Gbps of bandwidth, but the DP 2.1a UHBR20 offers 80 Gbps bandwidth, allowing the monitor to deliver uncompressed visuals at higher resolutions and high refresh rates.

The DP 2.1a UHBR20 offers 20 Gbps of bandwidth per lane, which comes out to be 80 Gbps across four lanes. With such a high data bandwidth, not only does the DP 2.1a enable the 4K@240Hz mode with HDR and 10-bit color depth, but it can also allow 8K@60Hz and dual 4K@144Hz modes. As many modern high-end gaming monitors have now started adopting the latest DP 2.1a port, the original PG32UCDM was lagging behind its rivals.

With the launch of PG32UCDMR, ASUS has overcome this limitation and has also introduced an AI-based assistant. As per the specs page, the AI Assistant Technology on the PG32UCDMR delivers AI Visual, Dynamic Crosshair, and Dynamic Shadow Boost to give users an advantage in gaming. The rest of the features are retained as found on the previous model, including display properties such as identical color gamut and accuracy, a max brightness of 450 Nits, 1.5M:1 contrast, and 0.03ms of GtG response time.

The OLED PG32UCDMR brings all the modern connectivity options and a highly ergonomic stand for versatile adjustments, and therefore, will be quite expensive. The previous model was listed for $1299, and it's expected that the new model will also be listed for a similar price.
