The new BIOS update for ASUS motherboards will support the unannounced Intel Arrow Lake Refresh CPUs out of the box.

ASUS Says its W880, Z890, Q870, B860, and H810 Motherboards Will be "BIOS-Ready" for Intel Arrow Lake Refresh CPUs Soon

While Intel didn't announce the Arrow Lake refresh CPUs at CES, ASUS has prepared its 800-series motherboards in advance for these chips. The company just announced the update in an X post today, confirming that these will be "BIOS-Ready". This means users who want to upgrade or buy Intel Arrow Lake Refresh chips, aka Core Ultra "Plus" CPUs, can have full compatibility when the CPUs are released.

ASUS will release BIOS updates for several chipset motherboards in the lineup later this month, including the workstation W880, the embedded Q870 chipset, and regular 800-series chipsets for consumers like Z890, B860, and the entry-level H810. That said, Intel has yet to announce the Arrow Lake Refresh CPUs officially, and it hasn't even talked about it much. We have seen various SKUs from the lineup in the leaks, and for the desktop platform, we will have three new SKUs.

These will be the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, and Core Ultra 9 290K Plus, which will either offer higher cores or higher boost clock than their predecessors from the current Arrow Lake family. It's rumored that Intel will launch these CPUs in either March or April, but of course, motherboard vendors are already preparing BIOS updates beforehand to ensure full compatibility.

It's not just ASUS, but we also saw GIGABYTE showcasing its Arrow Lake Refresh-compatible motherboard at CES called Z890 AORUS ELITE WiFi7 PLUS. While this was a new motherboard, its existing motherboards will also get newer BIOS updates for the upcoming CPUs. We are waiting for official confirmation from Intel on the launch date of the new CPUs, which should be here before the Q1 ends.
