ASUS Brings RTX 5090-Powered ROG SCAR 18, Bringing ROG Nebula ELMB Technology for Superior Motion Clarity

Popular hardware and laptop maker ASUS has launched its latest ROG Strix SCAR 18 gaming laptop, powered by flagship hardware, including Intel's Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus (an uplift from Core Ultra 9 275HX on the 2025 edition) paired with up to GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU. With such a powerful configuration, the laptop can deliver an ultimate gaming experience at 4K resolution that comes on an 18-inch ROG Nebula HDR display.

ASUS calls it the first 18-inch gaming laptop feature 240 Hz Mini LED display that brings ROG Nebula ELMB (Extreme Low Motion Blur). As per ASUS, the ELMB delivers superior motion clarity, and thanks to the mini LED technology that delivers over 2000 dimming zones, 1600 nits of peak brightness, and HDR support, the display is going to deliver amazing visual fidelity in games and video content.

The panel is quite color accurate and has an excellent color reproduction that covers 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and offers G-SYNC compatibility for tear-free gameplay. While ASUS has declared that the laptop will boast up to 290HX Plus and RTX 5090, the laptop should come in more configurations for a lower price.

The specifications will include up to 128 GB DDR5 of memory, featuring 6400 MT/s speed. For storage, it supports up to 8 TB PCIe Gen 5.0 SSDs through a 4 TB + 4 TG configuration. For connectivity, the laptop boasts dual Thunderbolt 5 ports, which bring significantly improved bandwidth over Thunderbolt 4 and also offer a couple of USB Type A ports for peripherals.

ASUS also claims that the ROG Strix SCAR 18 offers a tool-less bottom panel that allows easy accessibility to the hardware inside, which allows upgrading the SSD and RAM. The SSD drive bays feature a ROG Q-Latch that makes replacing the SSD a breeze without needing screws. And of course, the users will get the WiFi 7 for wireless internet connectivity and a 2.5G LAN for fast wired connectivity. Coupled with a big 90Wh battery, the ROG Strix SCAR 18 is ready to operate for several hours, but with gaming workloads, expect the battery to drain much faster.

ASUS hasn't disclosed any details on its pricing, but expect the flagship configuration to cost way over $4000.
