Assassin's Creed Unity has received a 60 FPS patch today for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, which may have packed an undocumented bump to 4K resolution. While a previous-generation title, this update makes the 2014 classic relevant again for those wishing to experience the series' old, more straightforward gameplay formula.
According to multiple online reports, today's Assassin's Creed Unity patch increases resolution up to 4K. While no one has made an actual pixel count, the game's PlayStation 5 update history mentions 4K resolution and 60 FPS gameplay.
Some users, such as ResetERA's RayCharlizard, shared screenshots captured on PlayStation 5 Pro, which do seem to indicate that resolution has indeed been increased over the low 900p resolution of the original release, although there is still no official confirmation of the exact internal resolution.
Today's current-generation patch was announced this week in a lengthy blog post detailing where the franchise is heading. As support for Assassin's Creed Shadows is winding down, the publisher is increasing its focus on future games, including the darker, narrative-driven Codename Hexe.
In addition, after months of rumors, Ubisoft finally confirmed Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced with the game's first official artwork. Hopefully, it won't take much longer to see how one of the best entries in the series has been enhanced for current gaming platforms.
