ASRock has become the latest motherboard maker to implement "Intel Baseline Profile" BIOS functionality on its Z790 & B760 products.
Intel's 14th & 13th Gen CPU Stability Issues Continue To Rise, ASRock Is The Latest To Add Baseline Profile Feature In Z790 / B760 Motherboard BETA BIOS
As pressure mounts on Intel to release a statement regarding the degrading stability of its 13th and 14th Gen CPUs, motherboard makers have started to implement new BIOS features that help set the chips to the "Intel Baseline Profile" or default settings which limit the power & voltages so that the CPUs can run better and more stable in applications and games.
ASRock has now followed ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI, all of whom have released their respective BIOS updates to allow the default stability that was meant to be there in the first place. ASRock has been rolling out the BETA BIOS for its entire Z790 and B760 motherboard range which were released just a few days ago (4/30 for Z790 and 5/02 for B760) boards. For those of you facing stability issues on a ASRock motherboard can head to the official support page here to grab the latest BIOS & set the CPU to its default baseline profile.
While we can appreciate the effort from the motherboard manufacturers, it all comes a bit too late as many users already have CPUs that could've been degraded to an extent from which they can't recover. Several PCs featuring the Intel 14th Gen and 13th Gen CPUs faced BSOD issues, and are unable to run applications & games. The "Extreme" or "Unlimited" power limits also caused several heating issues so while these new baseline settings will run chips cooler, they will also run slower, with up to -30% loss seen in multi-threaded applications and up to -15% loss in-game performance.
As per the most recent statements from manufacturers, Intel and its partners are yet to determine the root cause of the issues affecting the 14th and 13th Gen CPUs but the company is planning to release an official statement on the matter by 15th of May. Once again, we don't expect much out side of the same baseline guided profiles to be the official solution but let's hope for the best as it has been going on for so long now.
