Apple’s New Leasing Program Now Allows You To Save A Whopping $547 On A $1,099 iPhone 17 Pro

Chip supply and memory shortages is making it difficult to find iPhone 17 Pro Max units in the U.S.

Apple seems to have found a very clever way to counter the ongoing malaise in the consumer electronics sphere, partnering with Klarna to launch a new device leasing program that is now offering unbelievably attractive deals.

You can now borrow a 256GB iPhone 17 Pro for $45.99 per month for 12 months, saving $547 off the original $1,099 list price

The Cupertino-based tech giant has just launched Apple Upgrade, a new device leasing program for "iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac, and iPad available on the Apple Store online, in the Apple Store app, and at Apple Store locations in the United States."

The program offers 12- and 24-month leasing options for iPhone and Apple Watch, and 24- and 36-month leasing options for Mac and iPad, with leasing prices starting as low as $17.99 per month for iPhone, $11.99 for Apple Watch, $24.99 for Mac, and $11.99 for iPad.

What's more, you can further reduce your leasing costs by trading in your old Apple device, and earn a 3 percent daily cash back when making lease payments with the Apple Card.

As for specifics, you can now lease a 256GB iPhone 17 Pro for just $45.99 per month on a 12-month term, or $31.99 per month on a 24-month term, saving $547.12 in the former case and $331.24 in the latter case.

What's more, you can lease a combo consisting of the base iPhone 17, a MacBook Air, and an Apple Watch for just $61 per month! The leasing term for the iPhone and the Apple Watch will be limited to 2 years, while that for the MacBook Air to 3 years. And, you have to pay 0 percent interest!

Of course, the move is intended to blunt the impact of already-implemented and upcoming price hikes for Apple's wide range of devices.

As we noted recently, Apple's Tim Cook had declared back in June that memory prices had become "unsustainable," and that "unavoidable" price hikes were coming.

Then, towards the end of June, Apple announced sweeping price increases for almost the entire range of its products.

Back in May, Apple pulled the base variant of the Apple Mac mini, which sported the M4 chip, 16GB RAM, 256GB of storage, and a retail price of $599, from its configurator in the US and other key global markets.

Then, Apple pulled the 256GB option from the M3 Ultra Mac Studio configurator, leaving the 96GB memory configuration as the sole option.

With the new Apple Upgrade program, however, the Cupertino-based tech giant appears to be locking customers within its ecosystem via very attractive leasing terms, hoping to outlast the ongoing AI-driven memory chipflation.
