Apple's iPad mini 8, which is expected to launch in the third or the fourth quarter of 2026, is shaping up to be a must-have device, especially if the latest reporting on its specs pans out.
Apple iPad mini 8's OLED screen and A20 Pro SoC render it a must-have device
The Information is out with a detailed report today on the expected specs and features of some of Apple's most anticipated products in 2026, including the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 17e, and the iPhone Air 2.
Concurrently, a leaked internal iOS 26 build has proven to be a repository of valuable information on Apple's upcoming product releases.
Now, an in-depth analysis of the leaked build has revealed tantalizing tidbits about the upcoming iPad mini 8. While previously the device was expected to launch with the A19 Pro SoC, the internal iOS 26 build suggests that it might do so with Apple's next-gen A20 Pro chip instead.
As for its other specifications, the iPad mini 8 is expected to sport an 8.5-inch OLED screen, making it slightly bigger than the 8.3-inch display panel on the iPad mini 7. Even so, it is possible that Apple retains the iPad mini 7's screen real estate for the iPad mini 8, while opting for flexible OLED technology, akin to what Apple did with the iPhone X, where the display was bent to increase screen real estate, shrinking the bezels in the process.
Nonetheless, to keep the iPad mini 8's cost contained, Apple might opt for a single-layer LTPO OLED panel instead of an LTPO tandem OLED screen. As per some reports, the device might launch at the $499 price point.
