Apple custom C sereis of modems will be integrated with A series of main chips on iPhone

Apple has introduced its custom C1 modem with the launch of the iPhone 16e, and it is one of the major highlights of the release. While the performance of the chip remains to be seen and compared, the company has bigger plans for its custom 5G-enabled chip. According to the latest, Apple is expected to integrate its custom modems with its main chip, which could allow the device to save space.

Apple will integrate its custom C-series of modems with the main chip, but the launch remains years away

Apple's new C1 modem is part of the circuit as a standalone chip, separate from the A18 chip that powers the device. According to Mark Guman in his latest Power On newsletter, Apple will integrate its custom modem with its main chip. This means that the C-series of chips will be part of the A-series of chips, but the analyst also claims that the development of the chips will take years.

Based on the information shared, the company will continue to offer its C-series of modems as a standalone chip. The prominent industry analyst also said the company will release an upgraded version of its modem or C2 chip next year, possibly alongside the iPhone 18 lineup.

It was reported last year that Apple had plans to launch an all-in-one chip, which would combine the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and modem into a single chip. It would be a connectivity-focused chip, offering everything in a single package. However, the reports were later shot down, but we can safely presume that today's report could have some link to the previous one.

As mentioned, Apple launched the iPhone 16e last week, and the device was pretty well-received when it comes to the upgrades. While the device has yet to hit the market, we believe that it will be a very strong contender in the industry. The device can be considered a toned-down version of the iPhone 16 lineup instead of an iPhone SE 3 successor, which would sum up the upgrade in a nutshell.

The C1 chip went under the radar last week, as Apple only shared a handful of details related to its custom modem. Now that the device is almost out in the wild, we will see extensive tests and comparisons of the device and how it stacks up against the competition. We will share more details on the subject, so be sure to stick around.
