Last year, Apple announced the standard iPhone 14 with little to no changes. The device featured the same design, and for the most part, it also featured the same chip as the iPhone 13. The company was potentially aiming to widen the gap between the standard and the 'Pro' models. This year, the iPhone 15 will feature a Dynamic Island on the display, a faster chip, and a USB-C port. Additionally, it is now being reported that Apple will move away from the Leather cases for the iPhone 15 lineup and instead offer an alternative material with a different texture.

Apple has offered leather cases for the iPhone for almost a decade, making the accessories appear more premium. Now, the company is moving away from leather and adopting a more environment-friendly approach. Today, leakers Majin Bu and DuanRui have shared images of the iPhone 15 Pro cases that look quite different than Apple's leather and silicone cases. Upon closer look, it appears to resemble a soft velvet finish. We can also see the inside of the case, which appears to be more or less similar to the leather cases for the current iPhone models.

The leaked cases also show MagSafe compatibility with the forthcoming iPhone 15 lineup. The rest of the case is pretty standard, with the cutouts for the cameras and USB-C. Additionally, the case is shown in a color similar to Apple's Plum leather case for the iPhone. According to the leaker, the cases are manufactured using a patchwork of different materials. The cases are slated to be eco-friendly compared to the leather cases.

Note that this is not the first time we have heard details on Apple's decision to move away from the leather material for iPhone cases. If Apple is aiming to further widen the gap between its standard and 'Pro' iPhone 15 models, the more premium material could be reserved for the latter while standard models could only come with silicone options. However, it is too early to draw conclusions as the final word rests with Apple.

Other than this, the iPhone 15 models will come with a USB-C port that could house enhanced Thunderbolt capabilities for faster data transmission and charging speeds. With the new Dynamic Island on the display, the standard models will minimize the external differences with the 'Pro' models. The company is expected to announce the iPhone 15 lineup and Apple Watch Series 9 on September 12. We will be covering the event in extensive detail, so be sure to stick around.
