A vapor chamber will make a significant difference to the overall temperatures of the M6 iPad Pro, with Apple previously reported to bring this cooling upgrade to its flagship tablet lineup. The California-based giant is often known to commence product development several months in advance, and according to the latest report, Apple is already in talks with two suppliers that could manufacture this crucial component.
The M6 iPad Pro’s vapor chamber is reported to be provided by a Chinese and Taiwanese manufacturer
Considering that the M6 iPad Pro launch will materialize approximately 18 months after the M5 iPad Pro’s inception, Apple has plenty of time to refine the cooling solution and incorporate the vapor chamber without compromising the thinness of its premium slates. According to United Daily News, Apple is seeking only one supplier from China, Suzhou Tianmai, which will stop mass manufacturing graphite sheets for this product range and switch to vapor chambers.
Next, we have Chi Hong, the second supplier of Taiwanese origin. The report does not mention the following, but it is possible that Apple chose both companies because they might have provided the vapor chambers found in the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The industry appears to be optimistic that after Apple brings vapor chamber cooling to its high-end tablets, it will eventually branch this upgrade out to the less expensive models, bringing a massive business opportunity for China and Taiwan to capitalize on.
The current 11-inch and 13-inch M5 iPad Pro models likely rely on graphite sheets to dissipate heat, but these are no match for vapor chambers. We have also mentioned previously that this addition could mean that Apple stops equipping its tablets with lower-binned chipsets, as the base M5 iPad Pro features a 9-core CPU instead of a 10-core one present in the base M5 MacBook Pro. With the vapor chamber added, the M6 iPad Pro could ship with the same configuration as Apple’s portable Macs.
