Apple's product roadmap for the future includes a foldable device, which was previously speculated to be an iPad or a MacBook with a hybrid software experience, but it appears that there is a slight twist. The company's rumored 20-inch device is not an iPad but a MacBook, as the company will save the iPad for a later day. A prominent analyst has shared details on Apple's foldable MacBook, which has been delayed to launch by the end of 2027 or 2028.
Apple will ditch the foldable iPad in favor of the MacBook, currently sees delay until 2027 at the earliest
We have recently reported details on Apple's foldable MacBook and how it will be different from the initial expectations. The device was rumored to come with a 20.25-inch display, but based on speculations from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will see fit to keep the bendable screen a bit shorter at 18.8 inches. This means that the first foldable could feature a smaller footprint as Apple aims to check the temperature of the market before throwing the device out in the hands of the consumer.
Other than the foldable MacBook, Kuo mentions that the supply chain survey indicates that "the foldable iPad has no visibility," which means that the foldable MacBook is being referred to as the foldable iPad, which was rumored to launch next year. What this means is that the foldable MacBook and iPad are the same devices, but Mark Gurman does not believe this is true.
As I reported last week, foldable iPad not coming until 2027 or 2028: “it’s working on a giant, foldable iPad — something that might not arrive until 2027 or 2028 at the earliest, according to people with knowledge of the effort.“ https://t.co/qnyE8pknaH https://t.co/fGz67XGTrI

In his response to Kuo, Gurman mentions that a foldable iPad will not launch until 2027 or 2028, referring to his post from last week. It is possible that the device could be announced alongside the foldable MacBook, but there are mixed reports surrounding the foldable iPad. There are no major details available on the launch of Apple's "giant, foldable iPad" and it remains to be seen if it will be released at its devised time frame.
Due to the foldable mechanism, Apple could be having a hard time with the hinge as the company will not release the device until it perfects the technology. Otherwise, the company would have to face the same fate as the original Galaxy Fold from Samsung. This is possibly the reason why the company is seeking to delay the foldable MacBook. We will share additional details on Apple's plans for a foldable device as soon as further information is available, so do stick around.
