Apple has a quirky penchant for making it notoriously difficult to figure out the mAh-based battery capacities of its iPhone lineup, resorting to the hours of video playback metric instead for battery comparisons between various variants of the iconic smartphone.

If not for the stricter tech-related regulations in the EU, where Apple is actually compelled to disclose the precise specifications of each smartphone's battery capacity, post-launch teardowns would have provided the only recourse to gleaning this suppressed tidbit.

Well, Apple's product information webpages for Germany have now delineated the precise battery capacities of each iPhone 17 variant. Do note that the battery capacity of the iPhone 17 Pro Max listed in the above X post actually pertains to the eSIM variant, which supports a slightly bigger battery due to the elimination of the SIM card tray.

Unsurprisingly, given the iPhone 17 Air's ultra-thin, titanium unibody frame, it features the lowest battery capacity in the lineup, at just 62 percent of the Pro Max variant's energy density, and around 11 percent below even that of the base iPhone 17.

It is hardly a surprise, therefore, that Apple has also introduced a MagSafe battery pack for the iPhone 17 Air, which adds 65 percent additional battery capacity to the slim iPhone model, allowing for a whopping 40-hour video playback time. The new MagSafe battery pack from Apple supports 12W fast-charging, and features an intelligent battery management system that optimizes the battery pack's use.

Of course, even without the MagSafe battery pack, Apple asserts that the iPhone 17 Air can last an entire day, and offers up to 27 hours of video playback, thanks to the ultra-efficient A19 Pro chip, which is paired with the equally efficient N1 wireless networking chip and the CX1 modem.
