Apple has announced through an official press release that it has entered into a multi-year and multi-billion-dollar agreement with Broadcom. For those that do not know, Broadcom is a leading U.S. technology firm that specializes in the manufacturing of radio frequency components. With the new deal set in stone, new 5G and wireless connectivity parts will be made in the U.S., providing jobs to thousands of people in the region.
New deal with Broadcom will also include designing and building FBAR (Film Bulk Acoustic Resonator) filters in the U.S.
There are key U.S. manufacturing hubs that include Fort Collins, Colorado, and that is where Broadcom has a major facility, which will be used to mass manufacture those radio frequency components as part of Apple’s agreement. Apple CEO Tim Cook also mentioned in the press release that the company will continue to increase investments in the U.S., which should drive innovation and create employment in the country.
“We’re thrilled to make commitments that harness the ingenuity, creativity, and innovative spirit of American manufacturing. All of Apple’s products depend on technology engineered and built here in the United States, and we’ll continue to deepen our investments in the U.S. economy because we have an unshakable belief in America’s future.”
This partnership is a part of the commitment Apple made in 2021 to invest a whopping $430 billion in the U.S. economy for a period of five years. According to the technology giant, it is not only keeping pace with meetings its proposed target but is also spending funds directly with various U.S. sources such as data center investments, plus capital expenditures and more.
This news arrives after a couple of rumors were doing the rounds stating that Apple would eventually ditch Qualcomm and Broadcom as it prepares a single package that will include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 5G. This latest agreement is expected to help Broadcom invest in future automation projects while also training individuals under the technician and engineering categories to improve their skills to better prepare them for the future.
