The all-black Galaxy S26 Ultra will represent a step backwards for Samsung, based on one critical aesthetics-related choice that can make the smartphone's bezels appear wider than they really are.
Ice Universe: The all-black Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra to have wider apparent bezels
The prolific tipster, Ice Universe, is out with another tidbit today, this time focusing on the design aesthetics of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
According to Ice Universe, the black version of the Galaxy S26 Ultra will not feature a silver frame, resorting to a black one instead to achieve a uniform color tone throughout the device.
This design choice, however, entails a drawback: the black frame will then meld with the black edges of the display to make the Galaxy S6 Ultra's bezels appear thicker than they really are, representing an apparent case of visual regression.
Of course, as we reported recently, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature a selfie camera hole that will be around 4mm bigger than its predecessor's, resulting in a wider field of view, but at the cost of overall aesthetics.
Additional details about the Galaxy S26 Ultra include:
- More rounded edges.
- A 6.9-inch screen with frame dimensions of 163.6mm x 78.1mm x 7.9mm.
- Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC.
- A 5,200mAh battery capacity.
- A dedicated camera island at the rear.
Samsung is also playing it safe in the camera department, with nary a change in the offing for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is expected to sport almost the same setup as the Galaxy S25 Ultra's:
- A single 200MP ISOCELL HP2 main camera (possibly with a wider aperture)
- A 50MP ISOCELL JN3 or Sony IMX564 ultrawide camera
- A 50MP IMX854 5x periscope camera (possibly with a wider aperture)
- A 12MP IMX874 selfie camera
- A 12MP ISOCELL 3LD S5K3LD 3x telephoto (possibly with a smaller, 1/3.94-inch aperture)
