An interesting dual monitor from AOC, but it quadruples the refresh rate, making it ideal for competitive gaming.
AOC Launches V6 4K Dual Mode Gaming Monitor That Quadruples Refresh Rate at 1080p, but is Capped at Just 80 Hz at 4K
Dual-mode monitors are getting more common than ever, and monitor makers have been experimenting with various modes. From dual-mode 4K monitors that reach triple-digit refresh rates to monitors that can hit nearly 1000 Hz at 1080p, we have plenty of enthusiast-grade monitors in the market these days, but the latest offering from AOC is an unusual one.
As shared by @realVictor_M, AOC has prepared a new dual-mode monitor that brings a low refresh rate mode at 4K resolution, but at the same time quadruples it at 1080p resolution. At 4K, it is capped at just 80 Hz, which isn't the most fluid experience you will have on the market, but when the resolution is switched to 1080p, it can bump up the refresh rate to 310 Hz, which is nearly four times the refresh rate it can run at 4K resolution.
It's a monitor in white, bringing a sleek and almost bezel-less design. AOC currently doesn't have that many dual-mode monitors, but it does have a couple of them, including options such as U27G4, which offers up to 160 Hz refresh rate at 4K and 320 Hz at 1080p. This is how conventional dual-mode displays are, and if we can recall correctly, TCL CSOT is the only manufacturer to bring a monitor that can switch to 4X the refresh rate in the second mode.
We don't have detailed specifications for the new V6 gaming monitor, but it doesn't appear to be from the AOC Gaming or AGON series. However, judging by its stand, AOC may be introducing a new stand style in the AOC Gaming series. More details will be shared in the near future as we receive more information on it.
