Android Lollipop 5.0.2 Hits Galaxy Alpha LTE – Here’s How You Can Install It

Its time Samsung rolled out the latest Android 5.0.2 update to Samsung Galaxy Alpha (SM-G850). The official firmware update has a build number of G850XXU2COD4 and can be installed on the Galaxy Alpha LTE model. Lollipop has been an eye candy for many smartphone manufacturers as they are emphasizing on spreading it out on many devices either old or new. Lollipop OS has been adopted by Samsung for its 2013 flagships as well such as the Galaxy Note  and Galaxy S4.

So what does the Android 5.0.2 update has in store for the Galaxy Alpha LTE? It does bring under the hood improvements in terms of performance and some visual changes as well. Some of them include revamped UI that features Material Design and Notification cards on the lock screen. Some of the native apps have also been redefined such as the Messaging and Camera app.

So what we're gonna do today is let you folks install it on the Galaxy Alpha LTE with some simple steps. There are two ways you can install the Lollipop update, either by OTA or you can also use Samsung Kies. In case you missed the OTA update, you manually install the update through the provided steps. Make sure tally your phone's details to the firmware details, else the operation might have adverse effects.

Before we begin. there are some factors that you need to consider. They are as follows:

Steps To Install Lollipop 5.0.2 G850XXU2COD4 On Galaxy Alpha LTE (SM-G850F)

Step 1:

Download the Lollipop 5.0.2 G850XXU2COD4 ZIP files as well as Odin v3.10.6. Then extract these files to your computer. The Odin v3.10.6 will reveal some other files as well but dont worry about them.

Step 2:

Power off your Galaxy Alpha and boot it in to Download mode. You can do this by press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power Button. Assuming you have all the proper drivers for your Galaxy Alpha.

Step 3:

You will now launch Odin as Administrator. Click on the  extracted Odin.exe file then right click it and from the options, Run As Administrator.

Step 4:

While in the Download Mode, this is where you will plug your Galaxy Alpha to your computer via USB cable. Odin will detect your phone automatically after some time. The ID: COM box will change its color to blue in Odin with COM port number.

Step 5:

Once its done, select the extracted firmware files in Odin using PDA/AP button.

Step 6:

Check the Fast Reset Time or Auto Reboot checkboxes. Make sure the re-partition box is disabled or unchecked. Authenticate all the above mentioned steps and proceed by pressing the start button.

Step 7:

Your installation will start and once its installed, your phone will restart. Disconnect the USB cable when you see the Home Screen.
