AMD has apparently confirmed the Radeon RX 8600 and the Radeon RX 8800 "RDNA 4" SKUs through a new "ROCm" patch, mentioning the next-gen GPUs.

AMD Looks To Aggressively Target Mid-Range Markets Through Its RDNA 4 GPUs, Which Are Now Appearing On ROCm Code Base

Given that we are now in the phase where mainstream GPU manufacturers are preparing for next-gen solutions, we will certainly see more information about particular models pop up, and it looks like this is the case with AMD's upcoming "RDNA 4" lineup. Code updates in AMD's ROCm library (via Videocardz) have mentioned Team Red's next-gen GPU models for the first time, particularly the Radeon RX 8600 and the Radeon RX 8800, coming under the "GFX12" branding.

While there were several rumors surrounding AMD's Radeon "RX 8000" series in the past, this is the first instance where we have seen specific SKUs pop up, too, in an official code base. For those unaware, AMD plans to launch Navi 44 and Navi 48 GPUs into the lineup, with both of the silicon being integrated into at least two SKUs each, with Navi 48 being used in the higher-end variants, such as the Radeon RX 8800 XT. The presence of the Radeon RX 8600 and the Radeon RX 8800 apparently confirms the presence of both mid-range and high-range SKUs in the RDNA 4 lineup.

Interestingly, in a previous leak, details about the AMD Radeon RX 8800 XT surfaced, claiming that this particular SKU will be the flagship offering in the RDNA 4 lineup. It was revealed that the model will feature 25% lower power consumption than the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, with over 45% uplift in ray tracing performance, showing that Navi 48-based SKUs will feature noticeable generational differences, making them worthy of an upgrade for consumers out there.

Given that AMD previously revealed that it won't target the "high-end" segment of the market, the RDNA 4 lineup is supposed to not feature Radeon RX 8900 series models since the firm looks determined to cater to the mid-range consumer markets. In terms of what to expect with RDNA 4, we anticipate that AMD will make serious strides in the budget segment, showcasing offerings with impressive price-to-performance ratios.

The AMD RDNA 4 GPUs will officially enter the mass production stage in mid-December, just a few weeks from now. This aligns with the Q1 2025 release date for these GPUs, with the unveiling taking place at CES 2025.
