Gigabyte has officially spilled the beans on the next-gen AMD Zen 5 Desktop CPU family which is now confirmed as Ryzen 9000 series.

Gigabyte Spills The Beans on AMD's Next-Gen Zen 5 Desktop CPU Family, Confirms Ryzen 9000 Branding & Support on Its AM5 Motherboard Lineup

Gigabyte joins the ranks of ASUS and MSI, both of which have previously announced support for the next-gen AMD Ryzen family on their respective AM5 motherboards. In its presser, Gigabyte is confirming that these next-gen CPUs based on the Zen 5 core architecture will be branded under the Ryzen 9000 series which is the first time we have officially seen the use of this naming by any manufacturer. GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co. Ltd, a leading manufacturer of motherboards, graphics cards, and hardware solutions, released the latest AGESA 1.1.7.0 beta bios for the coming AMD Ryzen 9000 series processors boot-up support on GIGABYTE AM5 X670, B650, A620 motherboards, and for present Ryzen 7000 and 8000 series processors as well.

The AGESA 1.1.7.0 beta BIOS is now ready on the GIGABYTE official website, and the formal release will be in mid-May. Users can easily update the BIOS using GIGABYTE's @BIOS, Q-Flash, or Q-Flash Plus technology. For more update, please pay close attention to the official GIGABYTE website.

Just like ASUS & MSI, Gigabyte will be supporting AMD Ryzen 9000 "Zen 5" Desktop CPUs on its AM5 motherboards which include X670, B650, and A620 series products. The BIOS will be based on the AGESA 1.1.7.0 BETA firmware. There's no Patch mentioned and the only one to list "Patch A" is MSI. Based on how early motherboard vendors are prepping up for Zen 5 CPU support, it looks like the launch might be very close.

The interesting thing is that Gigabyte mentions that the BIOS only provides boot-up support for the AMD Ryzen 9000 Desktop CPUs. This may still be a very early BIOS release and we can expect more updates in the future as we get closer to launch with official (Non-BETA) releases.

We know that AMD is prepping a grand unveiling of its Ryzen 9000 "Zen 5" CPUs at Computex 2024 which is primed for early June 2024 and we can expect a launch a month after that so July (2024) at the earliest. Intel is also aiming to announce its next-generation client CPU family, Arrow Lake, that will first be heading out to desktop platforms on the LGA 1851 socket but that might come after the release of Zen 5 on AM5 socket.

Not a lot about AMD's Zen 5 core architecture is known at the moment. Rumors are stating that the core-to-core performance should see a >40% performance uplift & there are changes to the cache structure too but from what the company has officially stated, it will offer:

PC builders buying an AM5 platform now are assured drop-in-compatibility with the next-gen AMD Ryzen CPUs. The company has committed to a 2025+ plan for its AM5 socket and as we have seen on the AM4 platform, AMD supports its desktop platforms more than Intel with a very strong 7-year+ dedication to its previous platform.
