The specifications of AMD's upcoming Ryzen 8000G "Hawk Point" Desktop APUs have been leaked & confirmed by ASUS.

ASUS Leaks Out AMD Ryzen 8000G "Hawk Point" Desktop APU Specs: Four SKUs Including 8700G, 8600G 8500G & 8300G Coming To AM5 DIY

The AMD Ryzen 8000G APUs were revealed in a previous leak and the latest information revealed by ASUS verifies the information and also offers a bit more details. The new Hawk Point APUs in the AM5 Desktop segment will make use of two key technologies, first is the Zen 4 core architecture which will power the CPU side of things and the second is the RDNA 3 core architecture which will power the graphics.

As per the latest details, the AMD Ryzen 8000G APUs are based on the B2 stepping of Phoenix. The B2 stepping is used by the Hawk Point APUs which have already made their debut with AMD's new Ryzen 8040 APUs for laptops. The new family will be supported on AM5 motherboards using the latest BIOS which has already been rolled out across multiple 600-series products, as reported here.

AMD Ryzen 8000G Specs: AM5 In 65W & 35W Flavors

So coming to the specifications, the AMD Ryzen 8000G APUs will be available in both PRO and Non-PRO flavors which share identical specifications. The flagship SKU is going to be the Ryzen 7 8700G which would offer 8 cores, 16 threads, a base clock of 4.2 GHz, and a boost clock of 5.1 GHz. There's also the Ryzen 5 8600G APU which features 6 cores, 12 threads, a base clock of 4.35 GHz & a boost clock of 5.0 GHz. Both of these APUs will be based on the Phoenix 1 die and feature support for OC.

The Phoenix 2 SKUs will include the Ryzen 5 8500G with 6 cores and 12 threads and the Ryzen 3 8300G with 4 cores and 8 threads. The 8500G operates at a base clock of 3.55 GHz and a boost clock of 5.0 GHz while the 8300G operates at a base clock of 3.45 GHz and a boost clock of 4.90 GHz. These two chips will be based on the Phoenix 2 die and feature PBO support minus the OC (manual) capabilities. The Phoenix 2 chips will also lack the higher-end RDNA 3 iGPUs such as the Radeon 780M and 760M. These would instead feature the Radeon 740M with just 4 compute units.

It will be interesting to see if AMD adds an NPU to its AM5 Desktop APUs. So far, the XDNA Engine has only been limited to Ryzen 7040/8040 laptop chips. The Phoenix 2 chips also don't get an NPU due to size/cost limitations but the higher-end chips such as the Ryzen 7 8700G and Ryzen 5 8600G may include the NPU making them the first desktop processors to feature an AI-specific accelerator engine.

All of the standard Ryzen 8000G AM5 APUs will feature 65W/45W TDPs but each SKU will also come in 35W "GE" flavors which will feature slightly lower clock speeds but the same core configs. These APUs are expected to launch on the 31st of January.
