AMD's upcoming Ryzen 7 9850X3D 3D V-Cache CPU has been spotted running on an ASUS B850 motherboard.

AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D 3D V-Cache CPU Is Right Around The Corner, First Sample Spotted Running On ASUS B850 Motherboard

In a post by HXL, we have our first look at the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D CPU running on an ASUS B850M AYW Gaming OC WIFI7 W motherboard. This motherboard is a premium overclocking design, featuring support for up to 10,400 MT/s DDR5 memory and a 15-Phase 80A power delivery solution. This is likely an engineering sample, but it shows that the chip is ready for launch at CES 2026.

The most interesting part about this leak, besides the obvious Ryzen 7 9850X3D, is the memory. The two G.Skill DDR5 memory kits can be seen running at frequencies as high as 9800 MT/s. These are top-notch speeds, which are made further possible thanks to the dual DIMM design on the B850M AYW board from ASUS.

Starting with a recap of what to expect, the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D 3D V-Cache CPU is going to be another 8-core and 16-thread variant with a 120W TDP and 96 MB of L3 cache. The specifications of this chip look very similar to the existing Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU. But the biggest change of this chip will offer faster 5.6 GHz clocks, a 400 MHz increase versus the 9800X3D. This should mark a major performance bump, further boosting the capabilities of AMD's 8-Core 3D V-Cache offerings.

AMD is also using its 2nd Gen AMD V-Cache technology across all of its brand-new "Zen 5" Ryzen 9000 Desktop CPUs. This new V-Cache design runs cooler, faster, and supports overclocking. It is possible that the new V-Cache design helped AMD to finally develop a proper "retail" dual-X3D chip. From the leak a few days ago, we got to see early performance, which sits 5% ahead of the 9800X3D, and 20% ahead of the 7800X3D.

So it looks like AMD's dominance in the gaming segment will continue with the Zen 5-based Ryzen offerings, while users who have waited for a proper dual X3D implementation will have a super high-end Ryzen CPU for their systems, and an even faster 8-core model. Expect more information on the new Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs in the coming months.
